What's the Correct Tire
Pressure?
I have checked my Tires psi last night and found that
they were all above 32psi. I immediately drop it all
down to 30 psi. Please check your tires psi and change
it immediately; otherwise you might loose some gas
mileage and feel more solid bumper road ride. Yes! All
tires to 30 psi.....Please post it back here; if you
have your tires psi different then 30 psi.

Re:
Warning Tires psi Alert
Hi buddy! My SF tires pressure were all 35 psi when I
received it last November, when I drove all the way home
that night seem a little bit bumpy, after lowered it to
32 psi & keep it until now with satisfy road feel.
(owner manual recommends 32 PSI)
I'm satisfy with
32 PSI, but may be 30 PSI even better, you judge! I
think 35 psi is definitely too much.

Re: psi
Hi, I go by what's on the door jambs...it says for two
passengers or less, keep at 30psi If you have more than
two passengers, and/or are hauling stuff, then it's
32psi all around. So I always have mine at 30psi.

Re: psi
Yes! Driving at normal condition then you should use 30
psi and when you are hauling then use 32-35 psi (depend
on the weight).
Using the 30 psi on normal ride
make the car even smoother plus you won't waste more
gas. The wheels/tires are lighter and the car
accelerated even more easier. However, I think 28psi
even do better but I rather follow the MANUAL.

Re: psi
Hung0820, a higher tire pressure will give you a
better fuel economy, BUT, - the tire will ballone and
run more in the profile centre rather then over the
total tire tread, which will lead to uneven wear. -
the ride will be harsher and bouncy

Re: psi
I thought that the tires psi lower is better because it
is lighter. The wheels spin much easier. I am still in
the process of testing the gas mileage right now. I just
recently drop to 30psi. Let me do some of this testing
first before I can get back with you guy about the psi.
However, I already find that the car even run smoother.

Re: psi
dukes dad is right. Anything lower then the recommended
PSI causes more fuel usage, tire to run hotter, less
tire lifetime expectency.
Fuel Costs
" A
10-degree drop in air temperature will reduce tire
pressure by 1 psi. The difference between summer and
winter tire pressures can be as much as 8 psi, causing a
fuel penalty..." - Sikorsky "How to get more MPG in
the 90's"
For truck tires, a 10 psi drop in tire
pressure will increase tire rolling resistance by
2%. - Goodyear Tire &
Rubber
Under-inflation is not only the tire's
enemy for durability but is a significant contributor to
increased rolling resistance and loss of fuel
economy. - Goodyear Tire & Rubber
Tires
under-inflated by 15% will cause fuel penalties of
around 2.5%, and a 30% under-inflation will increase
fuel consumption by 5%. - Goodyear Tire &
Rubber
Maintaining tire inflation pressure is the
most important tire maintenance function. Cost per mile
benefits will directly result from good tire pressure
control. - Goodyear Tire & Rubber

Psi so far testing
So far I have drop my Psi down to 30 psi and seem to be
just slightly, slightly, little bit waste more gas
compare to the 35psi but the cornering and ride is much
better.
**Bill Tung** I think you are using
32psi is probably the best which I will test is next.
I'll go to pump-up to 32psi when I pour my next gas. I
hope 32psi will do well and I'll stick with 32psi....

32 psi?
I can't see how 2 psi will make that much a differnce? from 30 to 32? You can actually feel the difference? And
gas mileage too? All I know is that I get like 374 to
398 per gas tank fill-up, city and highway driving. I'm
at 30 psi. |

Oh Hung, Welcome back!
Miss your posts here.
How was your trip? Did many people ask you tons
of questions about your Santa Fe? Just wondering.

Re: Psi so far testing
just keep in mind, that all pressure spec's are listed
when the tires are at ambient temperature. The tire
pressure will increase by itself depending on: -
distance and SPEED travelled - road conditions (poor
road = more movement of tire) - climat & ambient
temperature

Re: Psi so far testing
Nick Stoke! Thank you for your welcome back note! I
will write this story about my trip to Sacramento and
post it in my website later. You can not image how's
many people are looking at my Santa Fe. I have to do a
lots of show-time. Once of my friend that have the 1999
Honda Prelude and loaded with sport stuffs too. He was
kind of ashame when he saw my Santa Fe. He said that he
is going to change his car to my car later too. NO
KIDDING! Many more. This is probably the most impressive
story I can tell. Wait! I have to finished with my other
stories first. Have you guys read my story in my website
yet?
PSI: Yes! I already know that the PSI
will increase and decrease depend on the road condition,
climate, and distance travel. However, I only want to do
the test on the PSI. I believe for my Santa Fe I should
have leave it at 32 Psi because I have plenty of
accessories plus usually ride with 4 people average. **I
like 30psi because it is smoother and do cornering even
better but the tires will burn faster because of the
weight I have so I decided to leave it at 32PSI; I hope
you know what I mean> For other people without the
accessories/parts and drive with less people then leave
it at 30PSI for best result***

Re: Psi so far testing
Good call, checked all my tyres after delivery, can you
believe the all came in at 45 psi !!.
All dropped
to 32 psi as per door jam.
Asked afew guys I work
with why the high pressure on delivery, apparantly the
pressure is put on the high side to cover the transport
of the car, ie rail/road/sea. As the car is normally
chained down hard, less movement etc.
Still
should have been picked up at the delaers before hand
over though

Re: Psi so far testing
PSI = pound per square inch. bit of an old form as
there are now a couple of other cover kilo's, etc etc.
